Vitamins & Supplements

Now more than ever, nutritional supplements are becoming a part of your daily routine. You take vitamin E to promote youthful skin, calcium for strong bones and vitamin C to combat colds. In fact, a recent survey of adult Americans showed that 59 percent use nutritional supplements, with more than half indicating daily use. And more than 90 percent of supplement users expressed concern about side effects, product safety and interactions between supplements and commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.

Since the Food and Drug Administration does not require pre-market approval for safety and efficacy of supplements, physicians are concerned that their patients may be taking ineffective supplements that can potentially interfere with their prescriptions.
